Monetary Future
This is something unavoidable. After reading colin&jo's blog, i'm struck by the thoughts of how financially secure i really am. Ultimately, the reins over my own monetary future has to fall into my hands someday. In truth, I have been given control over my accounts since after JC, but being a silly girl then who dint know how to handle the money, i hadnt thought to invest my money in a fixed deposit account, and now, with 2 accounts combined, the money under my name only amounts to a 3-digit figure. Even with the money loaned out returned to me, my account would still amount to only a low 4-figure sum. I have just been lucky enough to have a mother who knew how to handle the cashflow in the family well enough to keep us all floating.
Haiz. it's time i really think seriously about savings. Right now, after consulting my cousin, my only existing policy that is still under my parents' account for me is one life insurance policy. Only one because my parents really dun believe much in insurance. I had bought another savings policy which i am paying myself from her 2 years ago, in an attempt to force me to save at least a sum monthly. With my impending graduation at the end of the year and with the prospects of finding a job, i really have to take more financial responsibilities for myself. More insurance is certainly a necessity then. And then with the responsibilites i had to take up at home as well.
Right now, really have to learn how to budget well. It all should start when you are young. But then better late than never. Realising this now at least force me to think about my priorities where money is concerned.
